Alternate ISBN: The problems make you think, some of them you even learn more stuff, some of them are straight forward, a few of them, could use some clarification, which is where for example the new updated versions would be beneficial You can't wimp out on this book if you are going to read it and get the most if it: Infinite series: Convergence criteria for power series: Conformal mapping, region of convergences, Laurent Series, review it.
If you do not, this will read like an encyclopedic book, and you will be forced to trust the results which I do not, if you can't derive it, you don't understand it, is my motto. The interpolation formula that preserves convolution is derived, rather than stated like my other DSP book on Audio does , the later bothers me to no end, at his point the formula monkey should have left the building and understanding should be the norm.
Anyway, it is a solid, terse read but well worth it. Unlike others, I think it is good for self-study, but do get a companion. Antonious book on Signal Processing is at the graduate level, with a LOT more examples, which give you a comfy feeling. It is a classic MIT authors "footprint", not a single typo yet ,. Feels very difficult to learn as an Electrical Engineering student. As a total nerd who also minored in mathematics, I found that studying Fourier Transforms within the topic of Mathematics did a better job of explaining the techniques found in here.
But definitely don't pay for a hardcover of this. The paperback is identical. This book is a classic, its easy to read and yet quite technical.
I bought the international edition and it is a great buy considering that it is almost exactly the same as the standard one some end of chapter problems are different but at a fraction of the price.
Signals and Systems Oppenheim Willsky Nawab PDF
If you couple this book with the lecture videos of Oppenheim himself, then you are going to learn a lot about signals and systems, highly recommended! I bought this book for learning some Hardcover Verified Purchase. This is very a great book. I bought this book for learning some basic idea in the relative fields, because I want to prepare for PhD degree in discrete time signal processing. I read this book to learn some fundamental things.
This book can be treated as a first book in learning Signals and systems, and other courses such as discrete time signal processing, contral systems and communication systems are based on the material taught in this book. In this book, the author not only introduce the continuous time signal, but also its discrete counterpart in great detail. The organization of this book is also really great.
But I read chapter 9 and 10 right after finfsh reading the first 6 chapters, because I think it is better to know all the theory first.
Then, it would be easier to understand its applications. Also, It is really easy to understand the meaning even for a student whose monther tongue is not English like me!
In this book, the author give us a brief introduction to several of its applications including sample, communication systems and feedback systems. Not a fan of Oppenheim's writing style, but the book contains everything you need to understand signals and systems.
Read with care as there is little notice in the form of bold letters, etc.
A lot of info contained in the worked examples. If you skip them you'll miss a lot of the book's content. Beware Oppenheim sources his examples from a variety of sciences. Don't get intimidated - you don't actually need to understand what's going on besides the math. One person found this helpful.
I used this book for one of my undergrad classes.
